The

Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, located in the Egmore district of Chennai, is one of India’s premier international field hockey venues and currently serves as a primary host for the 2026 Men’s Hockey India League (HIL). Built in 1995 and named after the former Mayor of Madras, M. Radhakrishna Pillai, the stadium accommodates 8,670 spectators and is renowned for its state-of-the-art carbon-zero blue Astroturf, which was updated to Olympic standards in 2023. Over the decades, it has established a storied legacy by hosting major global tournaments, including the 1996 and 2005 Champions Trophies, the 2023 Asian Champions Trophy, and the 2025 FIH Men’s Junior World Cup. Operated by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, it remains a vital hub for both local Chennai Hockey Association matches and high-stakes international competition.
